The trailer for Avengers Doomsday was recently shown at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, giving audiences a first look at the next big film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is set to release in December and brings back Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans in surprising roles.
Robert Downey Jr returns to the MCU but not as Iron Man. This time, he plays the villain Doctor Doom. The trailer opens with a voice saying, “Something’s coming!” before showing a flash of light and then revealing him in a silver mask as Doctor Doom. This marks a major shift for the actor, who was earlier known for playing a hero in the franchise.
The trailer also features several well known characters. These include Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Florence Pugh as Yelena, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, James Marsden as Cyclops, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Tenoch Huerta as Namor.
One of the key moments in the trailer shows Thor leading the fight. He says, “They died facing enemies and threats. Everything they sacrificed will be for nothing if we don’t stand together.” When Thor attacks Doctor Doom, the villain easily stops him. Thor then hopes for a miracle, and a voice says, “Hey, pal!” It is Steve Rogers. Thor looks surprised as Rogers lifts his hammer Mjölnir.
