Megan Thee Stallion Wraps Up Broadway Debut In Short Run

Megan Thee Stallion will end her Broadway run in Moulin Rouge early on May 1, after a brief but widely noticed debut in the musical.

Megan Thee Stallion is preparing to end her run in Moulin Rouge! The Musical earlier than expected. Her time in the show was short, but it drew a lot of attention from both fans and theatre audiences.

The rapper and actor shared the update on Instagram on April 27. She confirmed that her final performance will now take place on May 1 instead of the earlier planned date of May 17. In her message to fans, she wrote, “Hotties, my last performance as Zidler in @moulinrougebway will be May 1 ❤️‍🩹.” She also spoke about her experience, saying, “It’s been such an honor to be part of thee Moulin Rouge family and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater! Y’all work so hard and I have so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y’all put into the work!” She added, “I’m so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful,” and thanked her supporters, saying, “And to all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey! I LOVE YALL🥹 See you soon 💙.”

Megan made her Broadway debut on March 24 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. She played the role of Harold Zidler, a key character in the story. Her casting was notable because she became the first female identifying performer to take on this role in any version of the musical. The role was originally played by Danny Burstein when the show opened on Broadway in 2019.

During her run, she had to miss 2 performances on March 31 due to a hospitalization. She returned to the stage on April 2 and later spoke about the experience. She described it as “a real wake-up call.” In another message, she said, “I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough,” and added, “It honestly scared me.” She also said, “I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have,” and confirmed, “I’ll be right back on that stage Thursday, stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100% the way you deserve.”

Apart from her stage work, she has also been in the news for her personal life after confirming her split from Klay Thompson. She stated that “trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable” and that she is choosing to “prioritize” herself.

Even with the early exit, Megan had earlier shared that performing on Broadway was important to her. She said, “Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor,” and added that it was a new creative opportunity she was ready to explore.
