Zahara Jolie, the eldest daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, appears to have publicly dropped “Pitt” from her last name during her college graduation ceremony. The 21-year-old graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta on May 17 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. During the commencement ceremony, Zahara’s name was officially announced as “Zahara Marley Jolie” as she walked across the stage to receive her diploma.
Interestingly, the official commencement program still listed her full name as “Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt,” making the spoken announcement stand out even more to fans online.
This is not the first time Zahara has publicly used only Jolie’s surname.
Back in 2023, when she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, she introduced herself publicly as “Zahara Marley Jolie.”
The move has fueled continued public speculation surrounding the strained relationship between Brad Pitt and several of his children following the highly publicized separation and legal battles between Pitt and Jolie. Zahara has often publicly praised her mother in recent years.
At a mother-daughter brunch event earlier this year, she described Angelina Jolie as “the most selfless, loving and understanding woman” and spoke emotionally about the values her mother instilled in her while raising their family.
“Our love for each other is a found one,” Zahara said during the speech, while also thanking Jolie for teaching her kindness, growth, and helping others.
Angelina Jolie has also spoken proudly about Zahara over the years, previously describing her as an “extraordinary African woman” whose connection to her heritage deeply inspires her.
In addition to Zahara, Jolie and Pitt share five other children: Maddox Jolie, Pax Jolie, Shiloh Jolie, and twins Vivienne Jolie and Knox Jolie. Over the past few years, multiple Jolie-Pitt children have reportedly chosen to publicly use Jolie’s surname instead of their father’s full hyphenated last name.
