Chand Mera Dil completed its second weekend at the Indian box office with an estimated collection of Rs. 5 crore. Nearly Rs. 2 crore of that total came on Sunday, which recorded a modest growth of around 10 per cent compared to Saturday. While the weekend provided some support to the film’s overall earnings, its performance remained noticeably lower than during its opening week.
Compared to its first Sunday, the film’s second Sunday collections were down by approximately 55 per cent. This indicates a significant drop in audience turnout after the initial release period. As a result, the romantic drama has reached a total of Rs. 23.20 crore nett in India after 10 days in theatres.
Starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday, the film is directed by Vivek Soni and backed by Dharma Productions. The movie is expected to cross the Rs. 25 crore mark by the end of its second week. However, maintaining momentum could become more difficult as several new films are scheduled to arrive in cinemas from the third weekend onwards.
Upcoming releases such as Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Peddi and Bandar are likely to increase competition for screens and audience attention. This could further impact the box office performance of Chand Mera Dil during the coming weeks.
The film has received mixed reactions from viewers since its release. While some audiences have appreciated the story and performances, the overall response has not been strong enough to generate significant word of mouth. This has limited the film’s ability to attract a larger audience beyond its initial target group.
The romantic drama genre has also faced challenges in recent years. Since 2020, only a small number of romance based films have managed to achieve major commercial success. Many such releases have found it difficult to draw audiences consistently, especially when competing against action, thriller and franchise films.
Despite these challenges, Chand Mera Dil has managed a steady run so far and is likely to add a few more crores before its theatrical journey slows down further.
