Pati Patni Aur Woh Do continued its run at the Indian box office by recording a small jump in collections on its third Sunday. The romantic comedy drama added an estimated Rs. 1.75 crore on Sunday, showing a growth of around 10 per cent compared to Saturday. With this, the film’s third weekend collection reached approximately Rs. 4.30 crore nett.
Despite the Sunday growth, the third weekend collections were around 40 per cent lower than the previous weekend. This indicates that the film is gradually slowing down after completing more than two weeks in cinemas. After 17 days of release, the movie has collected approximately Rs. 44.55 crore nett at the Indian box office.
Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh, the film is directed by Mudassar Aziz. The movie has managed to maintain a presence in theatres despite facing challenges in attracting large numbers of viewers consistently.
The coming week is expected to be important for the film as it will face competition from several new releases, including Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Bandar and Peddi. The arrival of these films is likely to reduce its screen count and show timings, which could affect its box office performance further.
Based on its current trend, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is expected to finish its theatrical run at around Rs. 50 crore nett. While this would be a respectable total, it is unlikely to significantly change the film’s overall box office standing. However, reaching the Rs. 50 crore mark would help improve its final numbers after a relatively slow start.
The film has also drawn comparisons with the original Pati Patni Aur Woh, which starred Kartik Aaryan and performed strongly at the box office. The earlier film completed its run with approximately Rs. 80 crore nett in India. Reaching similar numbers has become increasingly difficult for romantic comedies in recent years, as audience preferences have shifted towards other genres.
Industry trends since 2020 have shown that romantic comedies often struggle to achieve the kind of box office success they once enjoyed. In that context, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do has managed a steady run, even if it has not emerged as a major commercial success.
