Netflix has come up with an unusual way to promote its new movie The Last House by placing a performer inside a room built into a billboard on Sunset Boulevard. Instead of using the billboard only for advertisements, the streaming platform has turned it into a small enclosed space where a man is spending several days.
According to Netflix, the man entered the billboard on Thursday, August 6 and is expected to leave on Saturday, August 8. The installation is located around 30 feet above the ground at Selma Avenue and Sunset Blvd. From the outside, it looks like a normal billboard, but a complete room has been built inside it for the performer.
The man inside the billboard has been identified as Nathan Shoop, an actor and senior experiential producer based in Los Angeles. His LinkedIn profile also mentions previous work with Netflix. Shoop is spending his days inside the elevated space while communicating with people on the street through a whiteboard.
Netflix told The Hollywood Reporter that he will “attempt to maintain a sense of normalcy over extended periods of time while ‘stuck’ in his elevated, enclosed set 30 feet above the ground at Selma Avenue and Sunset Blvd communicating with commuters and passersby below via whiteboard as an eerie nod to the family’s own isolation in the film.”

The unusual installation is connected to the story of The Last House, which stars Greta Lee and Wagner Moura. The movie follows a family of four who suddenly find themselves trapped inside their home with no way to escape. As their resources begin to run out, they must find a way to survive while dealing with a mysterious threat that is keeping them inside.
Shoop’s professional profile describes his career in acting and creative production. He wrote, “My journey began in Los Angeles, where my work as an actor sparked a lifelong passion for being involved in onset productions and collaborating with creative individuals. This passion has led me to specialize in creative production, where I collaborate with talented people pushing the boundaries of storytelling in innovative ways.”
“I am driven by the process of bringing ideas to life-from inception to reality-and enjoy the challenge of streamlining production and creating memorable experiences. Whether it’s managing logistics or fostering an environment of fun and teamwork, I’m dedicated to delivering results that break new ground and leave a lasting impact,” Nathan added.
