Babita Singh Reporting stars Nimisha Sajayan as a suspended cop investigating her friend’s murder. The mystery drama premieres on Prime Video on August 28

Prime Video has announced the release date of its upcoming investigative drama Babita Singh Reporting. The film stars Nimisha Sajayan in the lead, with Barun Sobti and Anshumaan Pushkar playing important roles. The movie is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on August 28.

Directed by Ambiecka Pandit and written by Amita Vyas, Babita Singh Reporting is set in a small Indian town. The story follows Babita, who is also known as Baby and is played by Nimisha Sajayan. She is a suspended police officer who has spent much of her life trying to keep other people happy while putting her own needs aside.

Baby’s life changes after the murder of a childhood friend. The loss leaves her deeply affected, and she decides to investigate the case herself. What begins as an attempt to find the truth slowly turns into a much more personal journey.

As Baby gets deeper into the investigation, she is forced to look at different parts of her own life. The story explores her family relationships, personal choices and the way she has allowed others to influence her decisions.

Prime Video shared the first look poster and release date on its official Instagram account. The caption read, “One murder, too many secrets awaiting #BabitaSinghReportingOnPrime, New Movie, August 28 @ambiecka #AmitaVyas #SudipSharma @saurabhma @filmsquadproductions @act.threeproductions (sic),”

Nikhil Madhok, director and head of Originals, Prime Video India, spoke about the film’s story and said, “At Prime Video, we are always looking to champion stories that are distinctive, authentic, and emotionally engaging, and Babita Singh Reporting is a strong testament to that vision,” Madhok said.

He explained that the film deals with the search for truth while also showing a woman trying to find her voice as she deals with grief, relationships and important choices in her life.

Executive producer Sudip Sharma also described the film as more than a crime investigation. “The movie unfolds around a crime, but at its heart, it is also about the personal journey of a woman who has always adjusted, sought validation from others, and stayed in the background of her own life,” Sharma said.

Sharma also praised Nimisha Sajayan’s performance and highlighted the contributions of Barun Sobti and Anshumaan Pushkar.

Produced by Saurabh Malhotra, Manuj Mittra and Tina Tharwani under Film Squad Productions in association with Act Three, the film has Sudip Sharma as executive producer. Babita Singh Reporting will stream on Prime Video from August 28.
