Spider Man: Brand New Day continues its strong run at the Indian box office despite seeing another drop in collections. The Tom Holland starrer earned Rs. 2 crore gross, or Rs. 1.65 crore nett, on its third Wednesday. This was around a 30 per cent drop compared with the previous day. With the latest collection added, the film’s running India gross has reached Rs. 552.15 crore.
When the 3D collections are included, the film’s real gross collection stands at Rs. 607.25 crore. The movie is now expected to finish its third week with around Rs. 554 crore gross in India. At its current pace, crossing Rs. 600 crore gross without including 3D collections appears difficult.
Despite that, Spider Man: Brand New Day has already achieved a major milestone by emerging as an ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER in India. The film has performed at a level reached by only a small number of Hollywood releases in the country.
Since Jurassic Park in 1994, around seven other Hollywood films can potentially be placed in the ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER category. These include Titanic, Avatar, The Jungle Book, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water. Other possible contenders include Spider Man 3, 2012 and Furious 7.
The Tom Holland film could also reach another major milestone in terms of audience numbers. Spider Man: Brand New Day has recorded around 1.9 crore footfalls in India and is currently the third most watched Hollywood film in the country. Only Titanic and Avengers: Endgame have crossed the 2 crore footfall mark so far.
The film’s latest day wise collections include Rs. 3.75 crore nett on its third Friday, Rs. 10.00 crore on Saturday, Rs. 9.25 crore on Sunday, Rs. 1.90 crore on Monday, Rs. 2.35 crore on Tuesday and Rs. 1.65 crore on Wednesday. Its total nett collection now stands at Rs. 456.15 crore, while the gross collection has reached Rs. 552.15 crore and Rs. 607.25 crore including 3D.
With its third week nearing completion, Spider Man: Brand New Day is now focused on extending its already impressive theatrical run. Its final collections will depend on how strongly it holds in the coming days.
