Spider Man: Brand New Day continued its strong run at the Indian box office during its third week. The Tom Holland starrer recorded a 10 per cent drop on its third Thursday, earning Rs. 1.80 crore gross. With this collection, the film ended its third week at Rs. 36.45 crore gross and took its three week running total to Rs. 553.95 crore gross in India.
The superhero film is expected to see a rise in collections over the third weekend. If the expected jump happens, Spider Man: Brand New Day could reach around Rs. 565 crore gross during the weekend. However, the film is currently expected to finish its theatrical run below the Rs. 600 crore gross mark.
Despite this, the film has already achieved a major milestone in India. Spider Man: Brand New Day has emerged as the highest grossing Hollywood film in the country, going past Avatar: The Way of Water. Its performance also places it among the biggest Hollywood blockbusters ever released in India.
There are several Hollywood films that have delivered all time blockbuster performances in the country since Jurassic Park in 1994. These include Titanic, Avatar, The Jungle Book, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water. Spider Man 3, 2012 and Furious 7 are also considered potential contenders in this category.
Another major milestone could be reached by Spider Man: Brand New Day if it manages to cross 2 crore footfalls in India. Only two Hollywood films, Titanic and Avengers: Endgame, have crossed that mark so far. The Tom Holland film has already become the third most watched Hollywood movie in India, with around 1.9 crore footfalls.
The film earned Rs. 323.25 crore nett and Rs. 391.50 crore gross in its first week, with Rs. 429.50 crore gross including 3D. Its second week added Rs. 104.00 crore nett and Rs. 126.00 crore gross, taking the total to Rs. 553.95 crore gross after three weeks.
With another weekend ahead, the film will now look to move closer to Rs. 565 crore and potentially challenge the Rs. 600 crore mark during its remaining theatrical run.
