The trailer of Nimisha Sajayan’s upcoming crime drama Babita Singh Reporting was released by the makers on Friday, August 21, 2026. Directed by Ambiecka Pandit and written by Amita Vyas, the film follows a young police officer who gets involved in a murder investigation despite being suspended from duty. The film also features Barun Sobti, Anshumaan Pushkar and Rajesh Kumar in important roles.
The trailer introduces Nimisha Sajayan as Babita Singh, who is fondly called Baby. She is a young police officer whose life changes after her childhood friend Bansi, played by Barun Sobti, is murdered. At the time, Baby is already serving a two week suspension. However, instead of staying away from the case, she decides to follow the clues and find out what really happened to her friend.
As Baby continues looking into the murder, the investigation begins to reveal unexpected details. The case does not remain limited to Bansi’s death, as some of the clues appear to connect with Baby’s own personal life. She also has to deal with problems at home, including the pressure and arguments within her family, while trying to understand the truth behind the case.
The trailer presents the story as a crime drama that looks at the challenges faced by a woman while dealing with both professional and personal struggles. Baby has to deal with her suspension, the murder investigation and tensions within her family at the same time. The story appears to focus on how these different parts of her life begin to overlap as she gets closer to the truth.
Sudip Sharma serves as the executive producer of Babita Singh Reporting. The film is produced by Saurabh Malhotra, Manuj Mittra and Tina Tharwani under Film Squad Productions in association with Act Three.
Babita Singh Reporting will premiere on Prime Video on August 28, 2026. The film brings together Nimisha Sajayan and Barun Sobti in a crime story centred on a murder investigation and a police officer determined to uncover what happened to her childhood friend.
