The film Bhooth Bangla had a strong opening weekend at the Indian box office. On Sunday, the movie collected around Rs. 22 crore nett, taking its total for the weekend to about Rs. 56 crore nett, including paid previews held on Thursday.
The growth over the weekend followed a clear upward trend. After starting on Friday, the collections increased by around 60 per cent on Saturday. This was followed by another jump of about 20 per cent on Sunday. This steady rise shows that more people chose to watch the film as the weekend progressed.
The film, starring Akshay Kumar, performed better in comparison to his previous release Jolly LLB 3 in terms of weekend growth. While both films had similar collections on Friday and Saturday, Bhooth Bangla moved ahead on Sunday. One reason for this difference is the type of audience each film attracted.
Jolly LLB 3 saw stronger performance in urban areas and in the North, where Saturday growth is usually higher. In contrast, Bhooth Bangla has done well across the Hindi belt, where collections often increase more on Sundays. At the same time, the film is not limited to one region and has found an audience in multiple areas.
The film has achieved what was expected from it during the opening weekend. The next important step is how it performs during the weekdays. If it manages to hold steady numbers, it could go on to become a HIT and possibly be the third such film of the year for the Hindi film industry.
There is also a comparison with Jolly LLB 3, which had a good weekend but could not maintain similar performance during the weekdays. This affected its overall result. Bhooth Bangla will aim to avoid a similar pattern by maintaining consistent collections in the coming days.
