Main Vaapas Aaunga continued its steady run at the Indian box office on its second Wednesday. The romantic drama collected an estimated Rs. 2.50 crore on the day, recording a drop of around 15 per cent compared to Tuesday’s collection. Despite the decline, the film maintained a strong hold and continued to attract audiences during its second week.
With its second Wednesday earnings, the movie’s total collection reached Rs. 32.50 crore nett in India. The film’s second week performance has been noticeably stronger than its opening week. In the first 6 days of its second week, the movie collected Rs. 20 crore, putting it on track to finish the week with around Rs. 22 crore. If this estimate holds, the second week total will be approximately 75 per cent higher than the opening week’s collection of Rs. 12.50 crore.
The film is now expected to cross the Rs. 35 crore mark by the end of Thursday. Based on its current performance, Main Vaapas Aaunga has improved its chances of achieving a successful box office run. However, its long term performance will depend on how well it holds up in the coming weeks.
To move beyond Rs. 60 crore nett, the film will need to maintain relatively small weekly drops over the next few weeks. Industry observers will be watching closely as several major releases are scheduled to arrive in theatres soon. Upcoming films such as Welcome to the Jungle, Alpha and Dhamaal 4 are expected to increase competition for audience attention and screen space.
A key test for Main Vaapas Aaunga will come during its third week, when it faces competition from Welcome to the Jungle. The film’s ability to retain viewers despite new releases will play an important role in determining its final box office outcome.
