Ayushmann Khurrana’s romantic comedy drama Pati Patni Aur Woh Do continued its theatrical run with a stable performance on its first Monday. The film collected Rs. 3 crore on Day 4, which was around a 20 per cent drop compared to its opening day collection. The hold is being seen as decent for a film in this genre, especially during weekdays.
With the latest numbers, the total box office collection of the movie has reached Rs. 20 crore in 4 days. The film had shown growth over the weekend before slowing down slightly on Monday. Trade estimates suggest that the movie may finish its first week in the range of Rs. 25 crore to Rs. 28 crore, depending on how it performs during the remaining weekdays.
Even though the overall direction of the film’s box office journey has become clearer now, industry observers are still watching to see where the final lifetime collection lands. Based on the current trend, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is expected to end its theatrical run with around Rs. 40 crore to Rs. 50 crore nett collection. This is being considered a respectable total for a small to medium budget film in the current market.
The report also highlights how the post pandemic period has affected small town comedy films. Before the pandemic, especially during 2018 and 2019, several films from this genre performed strongly in theatres. Ayushmann Khurrana was one of the leading actors in this space, delivering multiple successful films that opened well at the box office. According to trade expectations, if Pati Patni Aur Woh Do had released before 2020, its opening numbers could have been much higher.
The day wise box office collections of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do are as follows:
Day 1 – Rs. 3.75 crore
Day 2 – Rs. 5.50 crore
Day 3 – Rs. 7.75 crore
Day 4 – Rs. 3.00 crore (est.)
Total – Rs. 20 crore
