The long-awaited comeback of the Man of Steel to the cinema has finally been achieved. Superman, with David Corenswet playing the legendary superhero, released in cinemas across the globe and has been making waves, particularly in India. James Gunn directed and wrote the film, which is the reboot of the Superman franchise after a gap of eight years, with Corenswet taking Henry Cavill’s place and garnering universal acclaim for the same.
Strong Begin in India in the Face of Competition
Superman started its Indian box office run on a positive note, with ₹7.25 crore on opening day Friday. The good pace continued on Saturday at ₹9.5 crore, followed by a mild slide to ₹9.25 crore on Sunday. But on Monday, a steep fall of more than 75% was witnessed, with collections sliding to ₹2.6 crore.
On Tuesday (Day 5), the movie picked up a little with ₹3 crore but fell again on Wednesday to ₹2.02 crore. In the first week, in accordance with early estimates by Sacnilk, Superman made ₹1.73 crore on Day 7, making its total Indian box office collection stand at ₹35.35 crore.
Star-Studded Cast & Big-Budget Spectacle
Supported by a whopping $225 million production budget, Superman is filled to the brim with action, emotion, and legendary characters. Lois Lane is played by Rachel Brosnahan, while Nicholas Hoult plays Lex Luthor, the main villain of the movie.

The supporting cast also features Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.

With good word-of-mouth and a loyal fan following in India, Superman keeps going great even in the face of local competition. The opening week success of the movie promises a good run in the future both in India and internationally.
