Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection: ₹259 Crore in 4 Days, Is This the New Bollywood Record?

Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection: All-Time High or Just the Beginning? ₹259 Crore in 4 Days!

Kantara: Chapter 1 was a huge success at the Indian box office over its four-day extended weekend opening, collecting an estimated ₹259 crore. The film had a phenomenal Sunday collection of ₹72.50 crore, surpassing its opening day—a feat that seldom happens, especially for a South Indian tentpole film that opened on a national holiday with preview shows.

Here is the day-wise box office collection of the movie in India:

Thursday: ₹70.50 crore

Friday: ₹51.50 crore

Saturday: ₹64.50 crore

Sunday: ₹72.50 crore

Total: ₹259.00 crore

Kantara: Chapter 1 made history in Karnataka by becoming the state’s biggest four-day weekend ever. It surpassed KGF 2, despite being behind by ₹4 crore on the first two days. The Sunday push of nearly ₹20 crore and 15% more than KGF 2’s Sunday total turned the tables. This big-made big puts Kantara: Chapter 1 in a good position to become the all-time highest-grossing film in Karnataka, which is presently occupied by the first Kantara.

The other southern states also experienced impressive box office trends. Andhra Pradesh-Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala all reported good numbers, evidencing widespread regional success. Although the Hindi version of the film opened mildly, it picked up considerable momentum over the weekend, with Sunday’s numbers being termed as “very good.”

Following is the territorial breakdown:

Karnataka: ₹76.00 crore

Andhra Pradesh & Telangana: ₹52.00 crore

Tamil Nadu: ₹25.25 crore

Kerala: ₹23.00 crore

Rest of India: ₹82.75 crore

Total (India): ₹259.00 crore

If the trend is carried over to the weekdays, the film is set for a mind-boggling lifetime performance—possibly rewriting record books in more than one territory.
