Bollywood box-office report of the week : 25 october 2011

Ra.ONE, TELL ME O KKHUDA and DAMADAMM
This week's new releases include Shahrukh Khan's RA.ONE on Wednesday, and a day later Himesh Reshammiya's DAMADAMM and the Esha Deol starrer TELL ME O KKHUDA.

It is obvious that RA.ONE will be off to a flying start and may even set new records during the extended holiday weekend, both in India and overseas. The other two releases of the week, DAMADAMM and TELL ME O KKHUDA, do not stand any chance.

Last week's solo release, the Chandrakant Singh directed Rajneesh, Tanisha, Rajpal and Shilpi starrer, BE-CAREFUL, has been out rightly rejected by the audience and will turn out to be a washout.

MOD
Moving on, Nagesh Kukunoor's MOD could not make any impact at the ticket window collecting 15 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Ahmedabad (collections from 7 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Pune, 3.50 lakhs from Delhi city, 1 lakh from Noida, 1 lakh from Gurgaon, 2 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Hyderabad and 1 lakh from Bangalore.

Netting just about 45 lakhs during the opening week, MOD is a trade disaster.

MUJHSE FRAAANDHSIP KAROGE
The performance of Y-Films' MUJHSE FRAAANDSHIP KAROGE picked up remarkably as the weekend progressed and the film collected 68 lakhs from Bombay, 17 lakhs from Ahmedabad (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 6.50 lakhs from Surat, 7.35 lakhs from Baroda, 2.15 lakhs from Rajkot, 7 lakhs from Pune, 2.60 lakhs from Nasik, 1.50 lakhs from Goa, 1.65 lakhs from Belgaum, 37 lakhs from Delhi city, 5 lakhs from Noida, 3.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 1.60 lakhs from Kanpur, 3.35 lakhs from Lucknow, 1 lakh from Allahabad, 7 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 3.20 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.10 lakhs from Ludhiana, 15.25 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Siliguri, 1.35 lakhs from Guwahati, 4.75 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.50 lakhs from Jabalpur, 4.65 lakhs from Raipur, 4.65 lakhs from Indore, 2.50 lakhs from Bhopal, 9 lakhs from Jaipur, 2 lakhs from Kota, 7 lakhs from Hyderabad, 9.50 lakhs from Bangalore and 1.10 lakhs from Mangalore.

Netting 3.50 crores during the opening week from India MUJHSE FRAAANDSHIP KAROGE has fared the best as compared to the other releases of the same week but could not emulate the moderate success of the banner's LUV KA THE END and will have to rely on non-theatrical rights, even for recovery.

MY FRIEND PINTO
Meanwhile Sanjay Leela Bhansali banner and UTV Motions Pictures' MY FRIEND PINTO turns out to be another disappointment for the promising actor Prateik's career. The film collected 30 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 19 cinemas unreceived), 2.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad (collections from 8 cinemas unreceived), 2.65 lakhs from Pune, 1 lakh from Goa, 15.65 lakhs from Delhi city, 2.75 lakhs from Noida, 1.65 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 1.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 3.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 5 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Raipur, 1 lakh from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1.25 lakhs from Hyderabad and 4.25 lakhs from Bangalore.

Netting 1.25 crores during the opening week MY FRIEND PINTO has failed at the ticket window.

AZAAN
Prashat Chadha's lavishly mounted AZAAN failed to appeal to the audience as the film collected 35 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 47 cinemas unreceived), 7.65 lakhs from Ahmedabad (collections from 9 cinemas unreceived), 2.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 2 lakhs from Pune, 13.20 lakhs from Delhi city, 3 lakhs from Noida, 2 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2.70 lakhs from Kanpur, 1.30 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.15 lakhs from Gurgaon, 3.50 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2.20 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.50 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 1.10 lakhs from Jodhpur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 4.60 lakhs from Hyderabad , 1.10 lakhs from Latur and 1.50 lakhs from Bangalore.

Netting just around 1.75 crores during the opening week from India and costing around 30 crore, AZAAN is an unmitigated disaster.

Adding another 4.75 crores, RASCALS has netted an ordinary 33.75 crores in two weeks and has failed.

RASCALS has also been rejected in the Overseas grossing ?228,000 from the UK till the third weekend (21-23 October) and $261,156 from US.

Concluding with SAHEB, BIWI AUR GANGSTER, the film continued its inspired run as it collected 15 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 12 lakhs from Delhi city, 2.50 lakhs from Noida, 1 lakh from Ghaziabad, 1.65 lakhs from Lucknow, 3.50 lakhs from Gurgaon and 2 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived).
