As per a report by Hauterrfly, Sunita Ahuja has petitioned for divorce under the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955 on grounds of abandonment, abuse, and adultery. The petition was allegedly moved in December 2024 at the Bandra Family Court.
Legal sources indicate that Govinda has reportedly skipped several court-ordered counseling sessions and hearings, while Sunita has shown up for all of the dates she was supposed to appear. These no-shows by the actor have been reportedly added pressure to the already tense proceedings.

During a recent interview with The Powerful Humans, Sunita Ahuja revealed how she was dissatisfied with Govinda and his entourage. According to her, “Today he has four people – a writer, a musician, a secretary, and a lawyer friend. They are of no use. They only say, ‘wah, wah!'”. “They should tell him the truth. When I tell him the truth, he gets upset.”
Her comments highlighted an underlying emotional distance in their marriage, with Sunita growing increasingly marginalized and ignored.
