Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan recently shared a heartfelt Instagram post, announcing that she has “graduated” from therapy after eight years of intensive psychoanalysis, earning praise from fans for her candid discussion on mental health. Reflecting on her journey, Ira expressed excitement and curiosity about the future, embracing the new chapter of her life with openness and self-awareness.
“I’m excited for the days to come. And the things ahead. Not any specific thing. Lots of things. All things. Generally. Is this how things were before? Is this how non-illness life is?” she wrote, highlighting the unfamiliar yet liberating experience of being on her own and learning to accept it without overthinking. “Feels unusual. Sometimes I don’t know what to make of it. Then I remember I don’t have to make anything of it. Just live it,” she added. Her husband, Nupur Shikhare, and cousin, Zayn Marie, showed support with red heart emojis, while fans lauded her honesty.
Ira detailed her therapy journey, revealing that she attended sessions three times a week over eight years. While she continues her medication, her therapist believes she is now capable of managing independently. “On 13th October, I had my last therapy session. After 3 times a week—for 8 years of psychoanalysis—I’m no longer in therapy. Not being in therapy anymore means my therapist and I felt confident that I had learnt a bunch of things, started living my life in a more helpful manner, and I’d be able to manage on my own—responsibly taking care of myself and remembering to have fun in life!” she explained
She emphasized that while she is not “cured,” she is in remission from depression and confident in managing future episodes with medication and seeking help if needed. Celebrating this milestone, Ira joyfully declared, “I GRADUATED THERAPY!! I PASSED!”
Ira Khan, daughter of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and his ex-wife Reena Dutta, has a brother, Junaid Khan, and has often used her platform to advocate for mental health awareness.
