Anupam Kher’s ambitious directorial venture Tanvi: The Great continues to build excitement as yet another key cast member has been unveiled. After introducing Boman Irani and Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen, Kher has now revealed Jackie Shroff as Brigadier Joshi in the film. The first-look poster showcases Shroff in a commanding avatar as an Indian Army officer.
A Heartfelt Bond Behind the Casting
While sharing the poster on social media, Kher penned an emotional note for Jackie, whom he called his “brother from another mother.” Kher revealed their deep-rooted personal connection, mentioning that Shroff’s wife, Ayesha, has been tying him Rakhi for over 30 years. Recalling how Jackie joined the film, Kher said, “He came over one day, I played him a few songs I had recorded for Tanvi: The Great. After listening quietly, he hugged me and said, ‘Don’t make this film without me.’”
Kher described Brigadier Joshi as a larger-than-life character strong, decisive, and yet deeply compassionate. He praised Shroff’s performance, calling it a memorable portrayal that audiences will cherish.

It is produced by Anupam Kher Studios and NFDC, in collaboration with Lower Middle Class Corporation. The film’s release date is yet to be announced.
