The fantasy world of Oz sees a dramatic shift in the last trailer for ‘Wicked: For Good’, dropped on September 24. The follow-up to the box office smash Wicked: Part 1 promises a darker, more emotional installment as Ariana Grande’s Glinda and Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba fight like never before.
Opening with a tense exchange between the two witches, Glinda declares, “I’m a public figure now, people expect me to—”, only to be cut off by Elphaba’s biting retort: “Fly?” The trailer showcases an intense physical confrontation, including a striking moment where Glinda smashes her wand against Elphaba’s broom on the iconic Yellow Brick Road.
Musical fans will recognize beloved Broadway numbers woven into the trailer, such as Glinda’s shimmering “Thank Goodness” and Elphaba’s powerhouse anthem “No Good Deed.” Romance, too, plays a part, with a magical midair duet between Elphaba and Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) in “As Long As You’re Mine.”
Chaos erupts during Glinda and Fiyero’s wedding when a herd of animals stampedes through the ceremony, prompting Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) to scream, “This is the work of the Wicked Witch!” Light-hearted moments balance the intensity, including Glinda’s bubbly line, “I’m obsess-u-lated!” while floating in her signature bubble.
The trailer also showcases brief looks at Oz’s time-honored players—the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow—and an important transformation scene in which Nessa Rose (Marissa Bode) emerges as her sparkly shoes are transformed into the legendary ruby slippers.
Directed by Jon M. Chu and penned by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, Wicked: For Good opens in theaters on November 21, 2025. With the unprecedented success of Wicked: Part 1, the Oscar-winning stage-to-screen sensation, the sequel guarantees an action-packed finale packed with music, magic, and redemption.
