The teaser for the much-anticipated film Chhava, starring Vicky Kaushal, was unveiled during the paid previews of Stree 2 on Wednesday night, much to the delight of fans. Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Films, the teaser offers a powerful first look at Vicky in the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of the iconic Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The teaser is action-packed, featuring intense war scenes that highlight Vicky Kaushal’s transformation into the fierce and commanding Maratha emperor. His portrayal exudes strength, authority, and regality, convincingly capturing the essence of Sambhaji Maharaj. While comparisons to Ranveer Singh’s portrayal of a Maratha warrior in Bajirao Mastani might arise, Vicky’s performance in Chhava is set to establish its own unique place in cinematic history.

In addition to Vicky Kaushal, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale, Sambhaji Maharaj’s wife, with a strong supporting cast that includes Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta. The film, which wrapped up filming earlier this year, is slated for release on December 6, and the official teaser is scheduled to drop on August 15, coinciding with India’s Independence Day.
Chhava marks another collaboration between director Laxman Utekar and Vicky Kaushal, following their recent success with the comedy-romance Zara Hatke Zara Bachke . Utekar, known for films like Mimi and Luka Chuppi, brings his distinctive directorial style to this historical epic, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
Meanwhile, Stree 2, the sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, continues to build excitement. With Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao reprising their roles, the film is expected to perform exceptionally well at the box office, with trade experts predicting an opening day collection between Rs 25-30 crore.
