The lackluster phase of Hindi cinema is here. Probably the dullest week of the month happens to be here. Out of all, two theatrical releases are scheduled to happen this week. One of them is Do Aur Do Pyaar. Despite having a trustworthy star cast including Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy, the film has no buzz and no excitement among the audience.
Do Aur Do Pyaar marks the feature film debut of director Shirsha Guha Thakurta. She explores the concept of extramarital affairs and conflicts in marriage and love. But is the Indian audience ready to accept a bold and unconventional concept? The current scenario at the box office won’t permit them to do so. With a reduction in people’s attention span, a complicated love story might test patience.
The music of a film plays an important role in building hype for a film. Unfortunately, due to a lack of memorable songs, Do Aur Do Pyaar fails to up the curiosity. The X-factor required to draw an audience to cinema halls is missing. Unexciting chemistry is also to be blamed.
The film might star big names but except for Vidya Balan, there’s no bankable face. While Pratik Gandhi enjoyed a successful theatrical run with Madgaon Express, people are still in the comic hangover and it might take a long time for the fever to subside. After Madgaon Express, Pratik’s audience might not want to see him resort to typical and confusing characters. Ileana D’Cruz has been missing for a long time and doesn’t have enough credibility to convince the audience to believe in the script she picks. Vidya Balan is the only center of attraction and the crowd-pulling factor.
Do Aur Do Pyaar might end up being the worst washout at the box office.
