While Nawazuddin Siddiqui readies his Diwali release Thama, the ever-delectable actor already has one more promising project in the works. Called Faraar (working title), this new heist thriller will find Siddiqui playing a never-before-seen avatar — that of a mastermind but morally twisted Physics professor embroiled in a cat-and-mouse game of brains and survival.
Directed by Kushagra Sharma, Faraar guarantees an engaging mix of emotional depth and international-style action. Co-starring with Siddiqui is Hollywood performer Ilia Volok, a veteran of Mission: Impossible, Indiana Jones, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Volok will be playing the film’s villain, staging an intellectual duel between two powerhouse performers.
“Pairing Ilia Volok with Nawazuddin was a creative decision that was meant to add depth and unexpectedness to the villainous character,” Sharma said. “As films go global, we wanted actors who are authentic and have gravitas.”
Also joining the cast is critically acclaimed actress Nimisha Sajayan, bringing yet another force to be reckoned with to the cast. Rounding out the film’s worldwide appeal is Spanish composer Iván Lacámara — famed for his action-packed score in Money Heist — who will be creating the film’s background score. His addition is set to raise the tension and worldwide feel of the film.
Though plot specifics are closely under wraps, sources indicate that Faraar deals in themes of morality, intelligence, and inner turmoil, all embedded in a sleek heist story. Featuring Nawazuddin in a complex role, Volok contributing Hollywood caliber, and Lacámara penning the score, Faraar is emerging as an unusual big-screen synthesis of brains, emotion, and thrills — a full-fledged big-screen spectacle.
