Over the course of a prolific career spanning more than 35 years, Akshay Kumar has cemented his place as one of Bollywood’s most versatile and bankable stars. Known for seamlessly transitioning between high-octane action, slapstick comedy, hard-hitting dramas, and nationalistic stories, Akshay has explored nearly every major cinematic genre. However, there’s one notable gap in his vast filmography: a traditional horror film.
A New Horror Venture in the Works
That void is now set to be filled. According to exclusive reports from PeepingMoon.com, Akshay Kumar is in advanced talks for a folklore-based horror film being developed by none other than Siddharth Anand, the blockbuster director behind War and Pathaan. The project is said to be a VFX-heavy theatrical experience that promises to be unlike most horror films produced in mainstream Indian cinema.
What sets this horror film apart is its emotional core the story will reportedly revolve around a father-daughter relationship, offering both emotional depth and supernatural thrills. While the project is still in its scripting stage and remains untitled, sources suggest Akshay is extremely keen and has responded positively to the narration.
New Collaboration in the Making
This marks the first full-fledged collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Anand, though the duo had previously explored other ideas. Last year, they considered working together on a vigilante action drama directed by Milan Luthria, but the project didn’t materialize. Anand then approached Akshay with this horror concept, which he is producing under his Marflix banner. A debutant director will helm the film, adding a fresh perspective to the genre.
Packed Slate Ahead for Akshay
The horror film is expected to go on floors early next year, once Akshay wraps up multiple ongoing commitments. These include the multi-starrer ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, and the ‘Oppum’ remake with Saif Ali Khan, which begins production this August. He is also in talks for ‘OMG 3’ with Amit Rai and another ensemble comedy with a frequent collaborator.
In the meantime, fans can catch him next in ‘Housefull 5’, releasing tomorrow, followed by ‘Jolly LLB 3’ on September 19, and Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy ‘Bhoot Bangla’ on April 2, 2026. With this upcoming project, Akshay Kumar is poised to add pure horror to his already diverse legacy.
