The holy month of Ramadan is often a time of reflection, gratitude and spiritual renewal. For many, it offers a pause from the rush of everyday life and a chance to reconnect with faith and family. For actors and public figures too, it becomes an opportunity to step away from the spotlight and embrace quieter, more meaningful moments. This year, one such heartfelt chapter unfolded in the sacred city of Mecca, where devotion and family love came together in a memorable way.
Actor Gauahar Khan and her husband Zaid Darbar marked the beginning of Ramadan with a spiritual journey to Mecca and Medina to perform Umrah. The couple was accompanied by their two sons — Zehaan, born in May 2023, and Farwaan, born on September 1, 2025 — as well as Zaid’s sister, Anam Darbar. The pilgrimage turned into an especially significant occasion for the family, as they chose this sacred setting to introduce their younger son’s face to the world for the very first time.
Sharing a series of deeply personal photographs on Instagram, Gauahar posted images of the family with the Holy Kaaba in the backdrop. In a touching note, she wrote, “Allahumma baarik!! Bade ko Kaaba se pehla salaam karwaya tha, toh chote ka salaam bhi toh banta hai. As salaam u alaikum beautiful world, from Farwaan. Keep our children in your duas as we pray for the world from the holy land.” The emotional message resonated with her followers, who quickly flooded the comments section with prayers, blessings and warm wishes for the family.
Many fans pointed out how meaningful it was that both their sons were introduced to the world from the same sacred place. The gesture reflected the couple’s desire to root their children’s earliest public memories in faith and gratitude. Earlier, in March 2024, Gauahar and Zaid had similarly revealed Zehaan’s face during their Umrah pilgrimage, describing it as his “first salaam to the world” in front of the Kaaba. At the time, they had waited nearly ten months before sharing his first glimpse publicly, underscoring their intention to maintain privacy while choosing moments of spiritual importance to share with their followers.
Gauahar and Zaid, who tied the knot in 2020, have often spoken about balancing their professional commitments with parenthood. While Gauahar continues to remain active in the entertainment industry, the couple largely keeps their family life away from the constant glare of social media. Their posts, though occasional, consistently reflect a strong bond rooted in shared faith and values. Their Ramadan pilgrimage this year once again highlighted how central spirituality is to their family life.
The couple’s journey also comes after public discussion involving Zaid’s father, veteran music composer Ismail Darbar. Last year, in an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Ismail Darbar had spoken about Gauahar continuing to work after marriage. He had remarked that while he considers her the pride of their family, it was not his place to ask her to give up her career, adding that such decisions would rest with Zaid. His comments sparked debate online, with many discussing women’s professional independence after marriage.
For Gauahar and Zaid, however, the present moment appears centered on faith, family and gratitude. Their decision to reveal Farwaan’s face in Mecca, much like they did with Zehaan, symbolizes a beautiful continuity — one that intertwines their children’s milestones with their spiritual journey. As they embrace Ramadan with prayers for their sons and for the world, the couple’s story stands as a reminder that even in the public eye, some of life’s most cherished moments are deeply personal and profoundly spiritual.
