Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar is tearing up the box office, crossing the coveted Rs 100 crore mark within just three days of release—and the craze is only intensifying. While Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna are being celebrated for their gripping performances, it is Gaurav Gera who has unexpectedly become the film’s biggest talking point. His astonishingly unrecognisable look in the film has stunned audiences and gone viral across social media platforms.
Gera plays Mohammad Aalam, a middle-aged juice shop owner in Lyari’s bustling main market. The character’s rugged, real, and radically different appearance left fans questioning whether it was truly him. After days of social media buzz, Gaurav has finally opened up about the overwhelming response to his transformation.
Speaking to Zoom, the actor shared that he has been deeply moved by the reactions pouring in. “I’ve read online comments. They make me so happy—some even brought tears. It’s a lovely time and I’ve been waiting for it for so long,” he said. Gaurav, best known for his comic characters like Chutki and his iconic role in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, revealed that he had long hoped for a role that showcased his range. “Sometimes an actor gets typecast, and the audience doesn’t realise what he or she is capable of. Dhurandhar allowed me to explore a side of me viewers had never seen.”
Discussing his dramatic makeover, Gaurav said his character was intentionally designed to look much older than him. The team cut his hair unusually short and added a fully white beard—something he joked is “quite real by now after years of makeup.” He added, “People finally saw the real me.”
The film’s gripping plot follows Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, played by R. Madhavan, who heads a dangerous mission to dismantle a terror network in Pakistan. Ranveer Singh plays a Punjabi youth recruited from prison and trained to infiltrate Karachi’s criminal underworld, delivering one of his most intense roles to date.
With a powerhouse cast including Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan and Gaurav Gera, Dhurandhar is proving to be a massive theatrical force. The makers have already confirmed that Dhurandhar 2 will hit cinemas on March 19, 2026—building even more anticipation for what comes next.
