The major release of the week, Hollywood’s GODZILLA II–KING OF THE MONSTERS, did manage to dominate the Indian releases (NAKKASH & NAUGHTY GANG etc.) but failed to embark even on a satisfactory start. Yes, the opening can be termed as fair, but it was nowhere close to that of the previous edition (GODZILLA -2014), which was a surprisingly a good success in India as opposed to the rest of the world. And with Salman’s BHARAT releasing mid week, the chances of GODZILLA II diminish further.
Meanwhile, both the releases of last week, Vivek Oberoi’s topical PM NARENDRA MODI and Arjun Kapoor’s INDIA’S MOST WANTED, failed to impress at the box-office. Having said that, IMW was much lower at 10-11 crore while PM NARENDRA MODI did show a stable run netting 16-17 crore, both during the opening week. Once again Salman’s BHARAT will cut down the potential of PM NARENDRA MODI.
Concluding with Luv Ranjan’s Akiv Ali directed Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet starrer DE DE PYAAR DE, after a good to decent opening week (56 crore), the film managed a stable follow up week of 22 crore, thus netting 78 crore (to be validated), in two weeks from India and is sure to end up as a semi-hit.
