As suspected but expected, the Hollywood venture, CAPTAIN MARVEL, comprehensively dominated the prominent Bollywood release of the week, Red Chillies and Azure Entertainment’s Amitabh-Taapsee starrer, BADLA. While CAPTAIN MARVEL opened to a 45 -50 percent start, BADLA managed a 15-20 percent start. Having said that, while CAPTAIN MARVEL is sure to end up as a clean success, the intrinsic merits of the Sujoy Ghosh directed Amitabh-Tapsee starrer BADLA will finally ensure a good weekend for the film.
As per initial estimations while CAPTAIN MARVEL has netted 13-14 crore during the opening day, BADLA is in the 5-6 crore range, during the same period.
Meanwhile, last week’s Kriti Sanon and Katrik Aaryan rom-com LUKA CHUPPI netted 52-53 crore during the opening week from India and is thereby more or less certain to end up as a clean hit.
Concluding with Fox Star Studios and Maruti International’s TOTAL DHAMAAL, the Indra Kumar directed Anil, Madhuri, Ajay, Arshad, Ritesh and Javed starrer saw a very steady follow up week. At the end of the second week, the film has netted 140 crore from India and is on way to a hit plus status, and we are not even talking about the $6m plus from the overseas run, with $1.90m, just from the US.
