It’s been 16 years since the release of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, the beloved 2008 romantic comedy that marked the directorial debut of Abbas Tyrewala and the acting debut of Imran Khan, nephew of Aamir Khan. To celebrate this milestone, the cast reunited via a special video where they sang the iconic song “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” from Manmohan Desai’s 1973 film Aa Gale Lag Jaa.
Shared on Thursday by Aamir Khan Productions’ official social media handles, the video features the primary cast members singing the song. Imran Khan, who played Jai in the film, leads the rendition, lying on a beach in a white t-shirt topped with a red-and-blue shirt. Genelia D’Souza, who portrayed Aditi, follows, wearing an olive green jacket over a black top with silver hoops in her hair tied back. Manjari Fadnis, known as Meghna in the film, joins in from her room in a yellow dress.
The video also surprises fans by including other members of the gang. Nirav Mehta, who played Jiggy, appears with a new look sporting an olive green shirt, a white hat, and long hair against a backdrop of palm trees. Alishka Varde, who portrayed Bombs, looks different in a grey sleeveless top with matching earrings and nose pins. Karan Makhija, who played Rotlu, is the biggest surprise with a bald head and a maroon t-shirt. Sugandha Mishra also makes an appearance in a blue top.
The nostalgic moment concludes with a humorous touch as CSF inspector (Murli Sharma) appears and jokingly threatens them, saying, “Agli baar ye gaana gaaya na toh goli maar doonga” (Next time you sing this song, I’ll shoot you), referencing his memorable dialogue from the film’s climax at the airport when Imran’s Jai sings the same song to propose to Genelia’s Aditi.
This reunion video not only celebrates the enduring charm of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na but also brings back fond memories for fans of the film, showcasing how the cast has evolved over the years since its release.
