Imtiaz Ali roots for Anurag Kashyap’s films

Hard-hitting, evocative, dark are some of the terms largely associated with Anurag Kashyap's style of films. Anurag is one filmmaker who never shies away from highlighting the grim realities of the society. From DEV D to THAT GIRL IN YELLOW BOOTS, all of Anuarg's films dealt with the darker side of life.

Ask Anurag what fascinates him towards the minus side of humanity and he candidly says, ''We use a story or a film to evoke the true picture of society. Now India has had the tradition of making very happy movies. And I have seen movies that have actually impacted people. Films should be a mindset of a filmmaker. I want to make films which make people think irrespective of the fact they hate or love it.''

While we do understand Anurag's penchant for exploring the negative aspects of life, even filmmaker like Imtiaz Ali, who is known for his appealing love-stories, is in favour of Anurag's style of cinema.

Says Imtiaz, ''Escaping from reality is not a great thing. The fact that the problem exists and can be identified and then a solution for that can be found should be highlighted. And films have always played a crucial role in bringing out a positive solution. If not a solution at least movies have made us aware of the things happening around.''

With Imtiaz rooting for Anurag's sensibilities it would be interesting to see someday Imtiaz taking up darker subjects, what say?
