Juhi Chawla recently shared a touching incident from her wedding preparations with industrialist Jay Mehta, revealing how her mother-in-law’s support helped her during a challenging time. Speaking at an event hosted by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Juhi recounted how difficult it was to feel happy about her wedding since her mother had passed away just a year before.
She explained that the thought of losing her mother and fearing the end of her career made it hard to celebrate. Juhi tearfully confided in her mother-in-law, who remarkably responded with understanding and compassion. “It’s okay,” she said, and took the extraordinary step of convincing the family to cancel the grand wedding plans, even though 2,000 invitations had already been sent out.
Instead, the wedding was held at home, attended by only the closest family and friends—around 80-100 people. Juhi expressed her deep gratitude for this gesture, marveling at the support she received from her mother-in-law during such an emotional time. She humorously added that, being a Punjabi who loved eating chicken, she eventually became a vegetarian thanks to Jay.
Juhi married industrialist Jay Mehta in 1995, and the couple has two children, Jhanvi and Arjun. Juhi’s illustrious career began with a brief appearance in “Sultanat” (1986) and took off with her breakthrough role in “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” (1988). She went on to star in numerous hit films like “Darr,” “Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke,” “Deewana Mastana,” “Yes Boss,” “Ishq,” “Jhankaar Beats,” and “My Brother Nikhil.” More recently, she appeared in the web series “Hush Hush” and “The Railway Men.”
