A confidential legal agreement between Kim Kardashian and Ray J has come to light, shedding new details on how both parties attempted to close the chapter on their long-running controversy.
The 2023 deal, described as a “Confidential Settlement Agreement and Mutual General Release,” was signed by Kim and her mother Kris Jenner, along with Ray J and his mother Sonja Norwood. It aimed to resolve all past, present, and future disputes related to the widely publicized s*x tape that has followed both figures for years.
As part of the agreement, all parties reportedly committed to not speaking publicly about the tape or making negative statements about one another. The contract included strict non-disparagement clauses, preventing either side from damaging the other’s reputation, business practices, or personal integrity.
The deal also contained provisions protecting platforms like Hulu and The Walt Disney Company from any related legal claims, particularly since The Kardashians airs on Hulu.
According to claims made in ongoing legal disputes, Ray J alleges he was paid $6 million as part of the agreement and that financial penalties were included if any party violated its terms. He has also accused Kim and Kris of breaching the agreement by discussing the tape on their reality series shortly after signing the deal.
On the other side, Kim and Kris have filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J, arguing that his public claims about them being under federal investigation are false.
The situation highlights how a decades-old controversy continues to spark legal battles, even after attempts to formally put it to rest through private agreements.
