Now that the directorial reins of AASHIQUI 2, sequel to AASHIQUI, originally made by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt, has been entrusted to Mohit Suri, everyone’s eager to know about Mohit’s plans for the much touted sequel.
Though Mohit’s past ventures RAAZ 2, AWARAPAN, MURDER 2 were dark, passionate films, his forthcoming venture AASHIQUI 2 will be way different.

Says Mohit, “AASHIQUI 2 will not be like popcorn frivolous romantic film AASHIQUI. Though AASHIQUI 2 is based in Mumbai and once again set in music world, it will have new taste and colour. Although I tried keeping it similar, I couldn’t do it. The way the first film dealt with the emotional relationship was different as it talks about Mumbai 21 years back. In AASHIQUI 1, you had a boy who was largely envious of the success of his girlfriend. Those are the emotions they might exist today but I have tried to take it forward in my film. The problems in relationships, today, have become more difficult and complicated to deal with.”

But ask him if AASHIQUI 2 will have bold content or the treatment of romance would be old-school and Mohit replies, “The heart always remains the same. I find Black & White romance interesting. The romantic films will stay romantic like TITANIC. There is no old-school or new-school romance. If you ask me whether AASHIQUI 2 will be in MURDER or JISM space than I would say no. It won’t be a film which will rely on sex or sleaze to sell.”
Nevertheless, Mohit says that the film will have lovemaking scenes in it. “… I would rather call it lovemaking and not sex. There would be lovemaking and not having sex,” quips Mohit.
AASHIQUI 2 will star Shraddha kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor in the lead. And the shooting of the film starts from next month.
