While the world may be familiar with Sonam Kapoor‘s fashionista side, her RAANJHANAA director Aanand L Rai reveals that the high-class deemed Bollywood actress, in reality, is a simple & middle girl within. In fact, it wasn’t a cakewalk for Sonam to be a stylista. She has achieved that Fashion Icon status after putting her all energies and focus on this arena.

”After meeting & talking to Sonam and spending some time with her family, I realized that she is a closet middle class girl. When you meet her, you realize that she is next door girl. Like any other ordinary girl she’ll be as cordial and treat you accordingly and doesn’t carry any starry air. Her upbringing is not what one deems to be,” says the director and adds, ”People may presume Sonam to be a fashion connoisseur but the fact is it took her a lot to arrive at this position. On the contrary, you’ll get to see the real Sonam through my upcoming release RAANJHANAA.”

Sonam has not won too many laurels for her acting skills. Talking about Sonam’s acting capabilities, the director says, ”You have to wait and watch…She has been underutilized. She has not done such brilliant job up till now. And the kind of performance she has given in RAANJHANAA is outstanding.”
Also starring Dhanush of ‘Kolaveri Di’ fame, RAANJHANAA is set to hit the screens on June 21, 2013.
