The new release of the week , Maddock Films and D2R Film Pvt Ltd’s Rajkummar-Shraddha starrer, STREE, which had opened to a decent 30 percent start, has sprung a pleasant surprise at the box-office, just as we had hinted in our Saturday morning update!
Pitted against a mighty project (comparatively) like the next edition of the Deols’ YPD franchise, Sunny Sounds Pvt Ltd and Pen India Pvt Ltd’s YAMLA PAGLA DEEWAANA: PHIR SE, STREE brushed aside the opposition, and after a 6.50- 7 crore opening day, picked up steam with a nearly 10 crore haul the very next day (Saturday). The collections skyrocketed on Sunday and resulted in a superb 29-30 crore weekend, which in other words ensures that the reasonably priced (28-30 crore) film is on way to a hit, if not more!
As we pen this column, we hear that STREE is set for a bountiful Monday, a holiday due to Janamashtami, in many parts of India!
