As anticipation builds around Ramayana, the mythological epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari and featuring a stellar cast including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Maa Sita, and Yash as Ravana, conversations have naturally turned toward casting choices. One such discussion recently involved veteran actor Ashutosh Rana, as some fans expressed their desire to see him portray Lord Ram instead of Ranbir Kapoor.
Responding to this sentiment during an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rana shared a deeply philosophical take. He said, “Mera manna yeh hai ki jo cheez aapke prarambh mein ya aapke bhaag mein bhagwan ne likhi hogi, woh apne aap mil jaati hai.” (I believe that whatever God has written in your destiny will come to you in time.) He emphasized the value of patience and acceptance, adding that if one waits with focus and faith, the reward will come naturally.
“Main Ravan Ka Kirdaar Nibha Raha Hoon”
Rather than dwell on missed opportunities, Rana expressed contentment with his current portrayal of Ravan in the acclaimed stage play Humare Ram. He remarked, “Main yeh manta hoon ki humaara ek naatak hai, Ram Naam ke naatak mein main Ravan ka kidaar nibha raha hoon.” (Life is like a play named ‘Ram Naam,’ and I am currently playing the role of Ravan.)
He went on to say that we often think more about our adversaries than our allies, leading us to slowly become like those we focus on. If Lord Ram had been preoccupied with thoughts of himself, Rana added, he wouldn’t have been the selfless divine figure we revere. This introspective viewpoint resonated with fans who admire Rana not only for his acting talent but also for his depth of thought.
‘Humare Ram’ Offers a Fresh Take on the Epic
Rana currently plays Ravan in Humare Ram, a large-scale theatrical production that revisits the Ramayana from the perspective of Luv and Kush, the sons of Ram and Sita. The play aims to explore lesser-seen emotional and philosophical angles of the epic.
Upcoming: ‘War 2’ on the Big Screen
On the film front, Ashutosh Rana will next appear in the high-octane spy thriller War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Yash Raj Films, the action-packed sequel is scheduled for release on August 14, 2025.
