EXCLUSIVE: Ranbir Kapoor Embodies Double Vishnu Avatar in Ramayana; Amitabh Bachchan Lends Voice to Jatayu

In a casting coup, Ranbir Kapoor is set to play a double role as Lord Ram and Parashuram in Nitesh Tiwari’s highly-anticipated mythological epic, Ramayana. This marks Kapoor’s third double role after Shamshera and Animal.

According to sources, Kapoor’s portrayal of Parashuram will have a distinct and unrecognizable look, highlighting the significant importance of the character in the epic.

Amitabh Bachchan has also joined the ensemble cast, lending his voice to the divine bird Jatayu. Although it’s a cameo, the filmmakers have scanned Bachchan’s eyes for VFX purposes to enhance Jatayu’s portrayal.

The film boasts an impressive cast, including Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, among others.

Produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the two-part saga aims to create an Indian film that resonates internationally. With a staggering budget of $100 million, the film is expected to be wrapped up by November, eyeing a mega worldwide theatrical release in 2026.

The first part of Ramayana will chronicle the early lives of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, their marriage, and their 14-year exile, culminating in the climactic battle against Ravana in the second part. The film’s VFX will be handled by DNEG, a renowned global VFX company.

Nitesh Tiwari, Namit Malhotra, and Yash have recruited top-tier global talent to bring this classic tale to life with the utmost grandeur. The film’s sets are being designed by a team of international experts, ensuring an authentic and visually stunning representation of the mythological era.
