As anticipation builds around the upcoming National Film Awards announcement, reports suggest that Vikrant Massey is likely to win the Best Actor award for his critically acclaimed performance in 12th Fail. Senior journalist Subhash K. Jha quoted a source saying, “Vikrant Massey’s performance in 12th Fail is getting him the National Award. It is final.”
Vikrant, who has received widespread praise for his portrayal of a struggling UPSC aspirant in the film, had previously shared with News18 Showsha that winning a National Award has been a lifelong dream. “I’ve prayed for one since I was a kid wanting to become an actor. That’s the greatest achievement—being presented an award by the President of the country. I hope it happens,” he said, adding that he also wishes director Vidhu Vinod Chopra is recognized.
Rani Mukerji in the Running for Best Actress
While Vikrant’s win is reportedly almost confirmed, Rani Mukerji is emerging as a strong contender for Best Actress for her powerful role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. The same report notes that two actresses from South India are also being considered in the category, making it a highly competitive race.

Upcoming Projects for the Stars
On the professional front, Vikrant Massey has several projects lined up. After Aankhon Ki Gustaakiyan with Shanaya Kapoor, he will be seen in White, portraying spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Rani Mukerji, meanwhile, is returning in Mardaani 3, which is currently in production. She is also rumored to be part of Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated film King, although this has not been officially confirmed yet.
