Seven Years Later, the Magic Returns! Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s timeless classic, Padmaavat, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor, is set to re-release on the big screen on January 24, 2025, after attaining a cult status over the years.
Viacom 18 Studios and Bhansali Productions announced the good news of re-release of Padmaavat through Instagram on 22nd January of this year wherein they shared a few old images of the movie with all the three heroes, captioning: “Catch the epic story again on the big screen. Padmaavat re-released in cinemas on January 24.”

The story pleasantly amazed fans, making them nostalgic and thus igniting a greater buzz in the comments section. Some fans asked for a reunion event with the cast and crew to promote more hype, others to inquire whether they would be able to watch the original uncensored cut (complete with the full Ghoomar sequence). The comments were like, “Finallyyyyyy” and “Ufff. Waiting!” Others remained sincerely hopeful about further revivals of other Bhansali classics like Bajirao Mastani, Devdas, and *Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
Padmaavat is paraded around legendary folklore of the extraordinary Rani Padmavati, queen of Chittor; she resisted against Alauddin Khilji in his obsessive pursuit to capture her and her kingdom. The story ends with women of Chittor, led by Padmavati, completing Jauhar (a form of mass self-immolation) to prevent their capture while saving their honor from the clutches of overpowering ambitions of Khilji.
Padmaavat is “Grand size, great costumes, memorable performances and of course the direction by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.” Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh, and Deepika Padukone as the royal Rani Padmavati are highly praised in terms of performance.
