Richa Chadha, who is pregnant and expecting her first child with actor-husband Ali Fazal, has shown support for Deepika Padukone amid criticism for wearing heels during pregnancy. Deepika faced backlash after attending the pre-release event of Nag Ashwin’s “Kalki 2898 AD” in a black, form-fitting dress with a slit, high heels, and jewelry.
An influencer created a Reel defending Deepika’s fashion choices, emphasizing that she can wear what she wants without needing unsolicited advice. Richa Chadha backed this defense with a succinct comment, “no uterus, no gyaan (no uterus, no opinion).”
Deepika’s character in “Kalki 2898 AD” is also pregnant, carrying a child who might be Kalki, referred to as SUM-80 or Maa (Amma in Telugu) in the film’s trailer. The film, set in a dystopian future in Kashi, features Amitabh Bachchan as Aswatthama, who vows to protect her child from Kamal Haasan’s character, Supreme Yaskin/Kali. Prabhas plays Bhairava, a bounty hunter aiming to bring her back to the Complex, from which she presumably escapes. “Kalki 2898 AD” will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi on June 27.
Richa was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” which was released in May. She and Ali Fazal are set to welcome their first child in July.
