Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh have welcomed a baby boy, several news sources report. The couple already has a daughter, Samaira, who will turn six years old on December 30. However, so far there has been no official word regarding the birth time of the newborn.
The much-talked-about Rohit Sharma seems to be missing from the Indian side of the Border Gavaskar Trophy first Test against Australia at Perth, which is scheduled to start on November 22. Coach Gautam Gambhir during a pre-departure press conference revealed that Rohit’s availability for the Test was still not confirmed. “At the moment there’s no confirmation. Hopefully, he will be available. We’ll let you know,” he said.
Indian Vice-captain Rohit Sharma’s absence will be one such immediate consequence. There could be a new opener too, as he might sit out, and Abhimanyu Easwaran and KL Rahul are reportedly in the selectors’ evaluative list for his spot in the series.
The fans await an official word from Rohit and Ritika and how heavily he is involved in the series.
