Actress Sayani Gupta shared that she was deeply moved after meeting the legendary Rekha at the premiere of the film Gustaakh Ishq. Taking to Instagram, Sayani posted a series of photos from the star-studded event, where she was seen alongside Rekha, Manish Malhotra, Vijay Varma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Tillotama Shome, and several others.
In her emotional caption, Sayani wrote, “Yaar… aakhein bhar aayi, dil ro pada, zubaan theher gaya. Rekha makes everything ethereal,” conveying how overwhelmed she felt in the veteran actress’s presence. She went on to praise director Vibhu Puri for crafting a beautiful film, noting with pride the many FTII alumni involved in its making.
Sayani also applauded Manish Malhotra for his debut venture as a producer. Calling Gustaakh Ishq his “first baby,” she admired the designer-producer for championing strong stories and fresh talent. Set in the 1990s, before the mobile-phone era, the film features a stellar cast whose performances she highlighted one by one.
She described Naseeruddin Shah as “exquisite,” and celebrated Vijay Varma’s turn toward romance, recalling fond memories of their early days when Vijay had joined their classroom shortly after arriving in Mumbai. Sayani also complimented Fatima Sana Shaikh’s performance, Manu Anand’s striking cinematography, and Madhumita Sen Sharma’s impressive production design. She credited Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar for adding their signature touch of magic to the film, calling it one of the most beautiful movies she has seen in a long time.
Currently, Sayani appears in Delhi Crime Season 3, the acclaimed Netflix series led by Shefali Shah as the formidable DCP Vartika Chaturvedi. Renowned for its realism and emotional depth, the show continues to explore the systemic challenges within India’s police force. Delhi Crime—the first Indian series to win the International Emmy Award for Best Drama—returns with a powerful new season now streaming on Netflix.
