Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s 2023 film Dunki, is set to make a massive comeback with the highly anticipated action thriller King. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, features a star-studded cast including Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, and Abhishek Bachchan. However, fans may now have to wait longer for the release, as a recent shoulder injury has caused delays in the film’s shooting schedule.
According to a report by Mid-Day, SRK sustained the injury while filming an intense action scene. Quoting a source close to the production, the report claims that the team has paused the current schedule in Mumbai, allowing the 59-year-old actor to rest for a few weeks before resuming shoot.
International Schedule Postponed
King, described as an action-heavy film, had begun filming in Mumbai and was gearing up for an international shooting schedule. With Shah Rukh’s health being a priority, the production team is now reworking the timeline for upcoming schedules.
Release Pushed to Early 2027
Initially slated for a Gandhi Jayanti 2026 release, King may now arrive in theaters early in 2027, depending on SRK’s recovery and revised shoot plans. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the film promises some of the most explosive action sequences in Indian cinema, aiming to compete with global action blockbusters.

A source told Pinkvilla last year, “The scale of King will be at par with Pathaan and a visual treat for audiences. SRK and Siddharth Anand are extremely confident in the script and the vision.”
With expectations sky-high, fans will now wait a bit longer for the King to return.
