Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently shared a clip of Shah Rukh Khan from the film Om Shanti Om on its social media, once again highlighting his global appeal. The post featured a popular speech from the film and came with the caption, “One thing about destiny… it doesn’t miss. Film: OM SHANTI OM (2007) Directed by Farah Khan Written by Farah Khan, Mushtaq Shiekh and Mayur Puri Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal, Shreyas Talpade and Kirron Kher”.
Om Shanti Om, directed by Farah Khan, is known as a memorable film in Hindi cinema. It combines romance, drama, and the idea of reincarnation with a touch of humour. The film features Shah Rukh Khan in a double role and also marked the debut of Deepika Padukone. The story follows a junior artist from the 1970s who is reborn years later and seeks justice for events from his past life.
The film became popular for its large sets, dramatic storytelling, and well known songs. At the same time, it also includes subtle commentary on the film industry and celebrity culture. After its release in 2007, it performed very well at the box office and gained a strong fan following, becoming a well remembered film over the years.
Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in the film Jawan, for which he received the National Film Award for Best Actor. He shared the honour with Vikrant Massey, who was recognised for his role in 12th Fail.
Looking ahead, Shah Rukh Khan will appear in the upcoming film King. The project is directed by Siddharth Anand, who previously worked with him on Pathaan.
