This Friday major releases, Bohra Bros. Pvt Ltd and Pen India Ltd’s Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna starrer THE ACCIDENTAL PRIME MINISTER and Ronnie Screwvala’s URI, could not really scorch the box-office, nor were they expected to! Having said that it was the patriotic URI which opened quite decently at around 25-30 percent as opposed to the political THE ACCIDENTAL PRIME MINISTER which saw a 15-20 percent start, which is a bit surprising as the expectations and predictions were just the opposite. At an early estimate URI has netted 9 crore and THE ACCIDENTAL PRIME MINISTER managed just around 4 crore.
As things stand, the Vicky Kaushal starrer URI is expected to be a success (provided it sustains at the same level) while THE ACCIDENTAL PRIME MINISTER may struggle to make a mark, based on the audience feedback for both the films.
Meanwhile, after a stupendous 150 crore week, Dharma Productions, Reliance Entertainment and Rohit Shetty Picturez’ Ranveer-Sara starrer, SIMMBA , saw a prominent but expected fall during the second outing managing a 61 crore haul thus netting a humongous 211 crore in two weeks from India. Needless to add that the Rohit Shetty directed SIMMBA is already a blockbuster (with still a lot of fire power left!). The icing on the cake is that SIMMBA is also an overseas super hit, grossing $11.50m in the overseas, at the end of the second week.
