Vicky Kaushal Makes A Heartfelt Confession About Fatherhood

Vicky Kaushal shared how becoming a father to son Vihaan has changed his perspective on parenting, family values, and everyday life.

Actor Vicky Kaushal has spoken about the changes fatherhood has brought to his life and how becoming a parent has given him a deeper understanding of the values his own parents tried to teach him while he was growing up. Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif welcomed their first child, a son named Vihaan Kaushal, on November 7, 2025. As he adjusts to this new phase of life, the actor said he has started looking back at his childhood with a new perspective and greater appreciation for his parents’ efforts.

During a conversation with The Nod Mag, Vicky reflected on the way he was raised and how his parents balanced financial challenges with the responsibility of teaching important life lessons. Speaking about his upbringing, he said, “When I look at my upbringing in retrospect, I understand so many things that they were right about. We weren’t financially flying. So, there was that pressure. But they had the responsibility of instilling the right values in me.”

The actor explained that becoming a father has made him realize that he now carries the same responsibility toward his own son. He shared, “It occurs to me at the most random moments that that [instilling the right values] is now my responsibility towards my son. He is going to learn by observing how his parents are thinking, talking, and behaving. So, I’ve realised whatever you want to see reflected in him has to come in your actions rather than words.”

Vicky also opened up about the emotional side of parenthood and the new feelings he experiences almost every day. After Vihaan’s birth, the actor took 6 weeks off from work to spend time with his family. However, when he later had to travel for a shoot located 230 kms away and stay away from his son for 4 days, he found the experience difficult.

Recalling that moment, Vicky said, “My heart sank. It was hard.” He added, “There are so many new feelings that surface almost on a daily basis, because being a parent is new to me. I understand now when others would say ‘Yaar, bacha kitna jaldi bada ho raha hai’. And I would think, ‘What are you talking about? Your child is still a year old.’ Now I get it.”

The actor’s comments offer a glimpse into how fatherhood has influenced his outlook on family, responsibility, and personal growth. His reflections highlight the importance of leading by example and the impact parents can have on a child’s development through their everyday actions.

On the professional front, Vicky Kaushal was last seen in ‘Chhaava’, directed by Laxman Utekar and co starring Rashmika Mandanna. He is currently working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’, which also features Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
