Immediate reaction when the end credits roll
Rishi Kapoor is back to tickle out funny bones. It has been a phase of brilliant intense drama and uplifting sagas like ARTICLE 15, KABIR SINGH, SUPER 30 etc, Smeep Kang’s Bollywood debut JHOOTHA KAHIN KA is an escapist stress buster that only knows how to chill with its mad, crazy fun.

The Story of JHOOTHA KAHIN KA
Taking a leaf from his super hit Punjabi comedy CARRY ON JATTA, JHOOTHA KAHIN KA is a comedy of errors where Varun (Omkar Kapoor) wants to win the love of Riya (Nimisha Mehta). Riya is not keen to get married because of his wheelchair bound father Manoj Joshi who keeps on nagging his wife and Riya’s mother Lillete Dubey. To win Riya’s heart Varun lies about his family and says that he got separated from them in childhood. Jobless Varun has rejected the offer from his father (Rishi Kapoor) to look after their family business in India and instead wants to settle in Mauritius because of his best pal Karan (Sunny Singh). Things are going as per Varun’s mischievous plans but he gets a shock of his life when his father plans a visit in Mauritius with his maternal uncle (Rajesh Sharma). Things get crazier when Varun’s father takes the bungalow of Riya’s father for rent which is just next to Riya’s house. Series of lies takes place and in the middle of all the confusion Karan’s brother Tommy (Jimmy Sherrill) out on payroll from jail makes an entry to add his glory to his brother Karan’s love story adding more fuel to the confusion.

Smeep Kang’s direction
Director Smeep Kang takes his time but maintains the flavor. The genre doesn,t claim to provide a ground breaking ‘real’ cinematic experience, its stagey, pure escapist fun inspired from William Shakespeare’s COMEDY OF ERRORS that inspired Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s GOL MAAL that went on to establish the Anees Bazmee’s, David Dhawan’s, Rohit Shetty’s we know. Getting the priceless laughter from simple situation is not an esay mantra to crack and Smeep Kang tactfully is able to deliver the laughs when required. It’s not crass, vulgar and pointless. The gags come with the storyline.

Performance of the actors
Performances are the driving force of this mad caper. Lead by the extraordinary Rishi Kapoor who pumps in with his incredible comic timing and mannerisms making his performance an entertainer throughout. His energy, expressions and grace in dance is amazing. Jimmy Sheirgill is a delight. Sunny Singh Nijjar is fantastic. Omkar Kapoor is endearing. Manoj Joshi never fails to make you laugh whenever he appears. Rajesh Sharma is funny. Lillete Dubey leaves her mark. Nimisha Mehta has her moments. Rucha Vaidya is fine. Ashok Pathak brings in laugher. Rakesh Bedi is class.

Flaws
It takes its time in tickling your funny bones. The movie is ruled by predictability. There’s no drama and songs pop up without any warning. Technically it could have been more polished especially the background score. The point of having Sunny Leone item number after the movie doesn’t make much sense inside the theatre. Those who don,t like mad capers and/or have no liking towards loud but clear comedies may cringe. The ladies don’t get much to play.

Hilarious moment
The entire climax that continues for more than 10 minutes is a laugh riot. Just hilarious, undeniably funny.

Final words
JHOOTHA KAHIN KA is an LOL designed to please the audience who love mad capers/OTT humour. Powered by an incredible Rishi Kapoor and endearing Sunny Singh and Omkar Kapoor with Jimmy Sheirgill adding more gas to the laughter balloon, JHOOTHA KAHIN KA is a stress free sukoon from the sachaa entertainer Smeep Kang.
