Immediate reaction when the end credits roll
Boredom has ‘NO ENTRY’ when the laugh doctor Anees Bazmee is around.

The story of PAGALPANTI
Raj Kishore (John Abraham) is a panvati (out of luck) guy. Whatever he does turn into a disaster. Even his friends Junky (Arshad Warsi) and Chandu (Pulkit Samrat) face the wrath of Raj’s bad luck, which forces them to join Raj in a misadventure that ends up in Raj, Chandu and Junky ending up as employers of gangsters Raja (Saurabh Shukla) and Wifi (Anil Kapoor). The trimurti of misfortune – Raj, Junky, and Chandu are made to do odd jobs like eating food, etc. What happens when these couriers of misfortune enter the world gangsters and most wanted fraudsters like Niraj Modi (Inaamulhaq). Niraj Modi… Sounds any bell?!

PAGALPANTI movie review
Art is subjective and comedy is the trickiest genre. If the jokes don,t work, they start irritating. The prolific Anees Bazmee – one of Bollywood’s known doctors of laughters ensures that there is no boredom if not LOL ( laugh out loud moments throughout).

Anees with his team of writers Anees Bazmee, Rajiv Kaul and Praful Parekh run a nonstop gag machine in PAGALPANTI, honoring the tried, tested and trusted comedy philosophy, ‘keep on throwing at the wall and something or the other will stick’. Here there is a sequence where even glue is used to provide laughter. The bottom line is – it works for the target audience.

Anees Bazmee provides moments of fun in PAGALPANTI that has his trademark at some points.

PAGALPANTI is not that WELCOME addition to the illustrated resume of Anees Bazmee but it’s still fun. Like the famous rajwadi tea maker who falls short in the ‘ukala’ ( a milk drink) but his hands on those ‘,masala chai’ is intact.

The highly talented ensemble cast adds to the fun.

Where John Abraham entertains, Anil Kapoor is in his element, Arshad Warsi is funny. Pulkit Samrat has his moments. Saurabh Shukla shines throughout. Inaamulhaq comes with a pleasant surprise and is entertaining. Zakir Hussain as the rival gangster Tulli Seth is good. Ashok Samarth as Bulli Seth is fine. Brijendra Kala as Mamaji is outstanding. Mukesh Tiwari as Baba Jani makes his presence felt. Ileana D’Cruz as Sanjana is good. Urvashi Rautela as Kavya is a surprise twist. Kriti Kharbanda as Jhanvi is cute and endearing.

Flaws
Director Anees Bazmee fails to give an out and out comedy. PAGALPANTI is good crazy fun if done by someone else, but going by the standards set by Anees Bazmee in his favorite genre, it’s a passable fare. It won,t disappoint the unaware audience going just for fun. But those who expect something extra from Anees Bazmee may even hate it. Not because the movie is bad, PAGALPANTI  is clear harmless family fun but the expectations from Anees Bazmee may add to the extra rant.

Final words
PAGALPANTI is a mood fresher, a crazy fun ride that makes you smile and that’s what is needed nowadays. Smile on our face.
