Get ready to freeze in Awe! CinemaCon’s first look at Superman’s fortress of Solitude is a Game-Changer

At CinemaCon 2024, DC Studios surprised audiences with a touching preview of James Gunn’s new Superman film, offering a fresh, emotional take on the iconic hero. Unlike the usual action-packed trailers filled with explosions, this nearly five-minute clip focused on a vulnerable Superman, injured and lying on a sheet of ice. As his loyal pet, Krypto, tries to comfort him, Superman’s tender request of “home” sets the stage for the return of his legendary stronghold, the Fortress of Solitude.

Krypto Steals the Show
The moment that truly captivated fans was Krypto’s antics. The eager dog, oblivious to his owner’s pain, jumps around Superman, inadvertently adding to his injuries. Fans couldn’t help but relate to the realness of the moment, with one tweeting, “As a dog owner, Krypto jumping on Superman all excited not realizing it hurts is too real for me.” Another fan humorously added, “Thanks, Krypto for 13 of those [broken bones].”

Superman’s Humanity Shines Through
Despite his injuries—fourteen broken bones and multiple damaged organs—Superman remains polite, humble, and grateful as he’s attended to by his robotic assistants. Fans praised Gunn for capturing Superman’s essence: even in immense pain, he maintains his kindness and humanity, offering thanks to the Superbots who help him. One fan noted, “Superman in immense pain, still finding the time to thank and say hi to even automatons is so perfect.”

Design and Aesthetic
The design of the Fortress of Solitude and the retro-futuristic Superbots has already garnered admiration. Fans appreciated the unique, standout aesthetic, with one saying, “The Superbots and the Fortress have their distinct retro-futuristic look, which really makes this version shine.”

Exciting Future for Superman
Directed by James Gunn, this new Superman film kicks off the DC Universe, starring David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The film is set to release on July 11, 2025, and based on this emotional preview, fans are eagerly anticipating a fresh, heartfelt take on the Man of Steel.
