Sean “Diddy” Combs has scored a significant legal victory after a federal judge dismissed nearly all of Dawn Richard’s civil claims against him, marking another major development in the growing web of lawsuits and allegations surrounding the music mogul. According to newly surfaced court documents, the majority of Richard’s claims were thrown out because they were filed outside the applicable statute of limitations. The judge ruled that most of the allegations cannot be refiled. One remaining claim related to copyright issues may still be pursued in New York state court.
For Diddy and his legal team, the ruling represents a clear courtroom win. For Dawn Richard, it is a major setback in a lawsuit that attracted widespread attention due to its connection to allegations involving singer Cassie and Richard’s own experiences while working with Diddy during the Danity Kane and Diddy-Dirty Money eras.
Richard originally filed the lawsuit in September 2024. She alleged that she witnessed abusive behavior toward Cassie and claimed that Diddy became angry when she encouraged Cassie to leave the relationship. Richard also alleged that she was subjected to harsh working conditions, including extended periods without sleep, and accused Diddy of inappropriate physical contact during studio sessions.
Diddy has consistently denied the allegations. His attorney previously dismissed the lawsuit as an attempt to “rewrite history” and argued that Richard’s continued professional relationship with Diddy over the years contradicted many of the claims being made.
